Horizon League Finals Recap: The Norse are Dancing!

Northern Kentucky secured an NCAA Tournament bid with a 59-53 win over Milwaukee in the Horizon League Championship Game Tuesday night at Joe Louis Arena. The win caps a remarkable season for NKU who captured an NCAA Tourney berth in the school’s first season of Division I eligibility. After taking a 5-2 lead, the Norse led the rest of the way. Lavone Holland II led NKU (24-10) in scoring with 20 points. Drew McDonald logged a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Brock Stull had 19 points for the Panthers (11-24) who struggled from the field. Milwaukee shot just 36% for the game including 22% (4-for-18) from the 3-point arc.

Holland received Horizon League Tournament MVP honors and McDonald was named to the All-Tournament Team. Northern Kentucky will find out on Selection Sunday its seed, opponent and game location for the NCAA Tournament.
