Game 27 Recap: Northern Kentucky 62, Cleveland St. 60
Northern Kentucky survived a late Cleveland St. comeback attempt and came away with a 62-60 road win Thursday night. A Dantez Walton jumper with 11:14 to play put the Norse up 50-44. NKU would then go almost 10 minutes without a basket. The Vikings eventually took the lead at 58-56 with 2:33 left. But then Drew McDonald would come to the rescue. His three-pointer with 1:24 but the Norse back up 59-58. After Cleveland St. went back up by one, McDonald hit two free throws with 35 seconds left to send NKU back on top. The Vikings had one last chance for the win but a Rob Edwards 3-point shot at the buzzer that failed to draw rim.
McDonald finished with a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds. He scored the last 11 points of the game for Northern Kentucky (18-9, 9-5 Horizon). Carson Williams added a career-high 22 points. Edwards had 19 points to lead the Vikings (8-19, 4-11).
